I was trying to book 2 nights for 2 people in San Diego near the GasLamp-Convention center from 10/25 to 10/27. ON Hotwire, there are 2 hotels which Iwas hoping someone could help me identify..

1. 4 and a half star hotel: Listed Amenities (6): Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Spa Services, Restaurant, Internet Access, Business Center: Cost: $119/night

2. 4 star hotel: Listed Amenities (6): Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Internet Access, Business Center: Cost: $129/night

The 4.5* property is a match for the Westgate Hotel so that would be our best guess for that one. The 4* matches previous reports for the Westin Gaslamp so that would be my best guess for this one.

I was hoping to get the Omni or the Hilton...Do you think the hotels may change depending on what day I book through the site?

HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level in each zone... the hotel that has offered them the lowest rate is the one that is offered on a given search. So for a different hotel to be shown you would need one of the following to happen:

-the current hotel raises the rate they offer the room to HOTWIRE (and raises it above the rate of the hotel with the next lowest rate)

-the curernt hotel sells out of rooms that they have offered at this rate

-the current hotel begins to fill more rooms on their own, or increased occupancy levels for this nite, and thereforel pulls the inventory currently offered

-another hotel offers rates lower than the hotel currently offered

Now...HOTWIRE has different hotels at diff prices for the same dates...

1. 4 star hotel, Gym , pool, Business center, Internet, Restaurant for $89/night

2. 4.5 star hotel, Gym , pool, Business center, Boutique hotel, Restaurant , Smoke free rooms, Golf nearby for $123/night

The 4.5* property has not yet been reported to the board.

The 4* amenity combination matches multiple properties for this area, as the Hilton Bayfront, Omni, Westin Gaslamp Quarter, Solamar, and Hilton Gaslamp have all been reported with this amenity combination, so any of these would be my best guess.

So, I finally decided to bid on PRICELINE for the days 10/25 to 10/27.

My first bid for a Downtown-Harbour Island hotel was accepted at $75 / night..The total was $178 including taxes..

I got the Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter!!
