Hi there from the UK. A bit last minute but the choices I have are

Streetville 4 star - Restaurant/fitness/internet/business/spa $112 tripadviser rating 4/5 I think this might be the Hyatt

Streetville 4 1/2 star - Restaurant/fitness/internet/business $236 tripadvisor rating 4/5 I think this might be the Intercontinental

Streetville 3 1/2 star Restaurant/fitness/internet/business/breakfast/suites/pool no tripadvisor I think this might be Embassy Suites Downtown Lakefront

NMA area 4 start - Restaurant/fitness/internet/business $159 tripadvisor 4/5 I think this might be the Rafaello

NMA area 3 1/2 star Restaurant/fitness/internet/business/golf/tennis/spa $142 no tripadvisor I think this might be the Hotel Indigo

The Loop 4 star Restaurant/fitness/internet/business/boutique $134 tripadviser 4 I think this might be Hotel Allegro

We are only in town for 2 nights with my husband and two young daughters 3 and 5 months. Which of these would be the most suitable/best deal........? Any advice gratefully received.

Welcome to the site.

The NMA 4* is possibly the Allerton, Knickerbocker, Westin or Drake, although I'm guessing it's likely the Knickerbocker out of that bunch. In agreement on the other guesses.

Personally, to go through the list:

$236 is too expensive for the Intercontinental.

The Allegro is too far out of the way in the West Loop area.

Too expensive for the Hyatt.

Indigo is quite nice - it's one of my favorite "under 4*" properties in the city. However, it's location is a bit too far North considering only 2 days.

Personally, I'd recommend the 3.5* Mag Mile that is likely the Embassy Lakefront. That's a really great price (I'm seeing $109, you may see a slightly different price) for that property and it's a quite nice area of the city. Additionally, the free bonuses (breakfast, evening reception) and larger space also make for a nicer value.

Thanks so much for the advice. I really liked the look of The Indigo but as we are only there for such a short time and are going as a family I though the Embassy Suites Lakefront was better for us.

Have just booked it and it was indeed the Embassy Suites for $108/night.

Thanks again

Congratulations on your success!

Certainly a fantastic deal for this property and the bonuses are quite a nice addition. Also, there is a large grocery store across the street (for cheaper snacks) and I'd also highly recommend Fox and Obel Cafe and Market (fox-obel.com), which is a couple of blocks East, on Illinois and McClurg. The cafe offers a nice breakfast/lunch/dinner and the gourmet market is fun to browse around.
