smally Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 Hello. I've read this forum front to back and gave it a shot tonight with no success. I'm trying to get a 4 star NYC hotel for 10/9 - 10/12 (3 nights). My preferred zones are MTE, MTW, TS, or CPS in that order. I'm looking to spend between $150 and $200. Based on other suggestions I've read, I tried the following with no luck.MTE and MTW$150 - $175 with re-bids.TS and CPS$150 - $175 with re-bids.MTE and TS$175 - $200 with re-bids.MTW and CPS$175 - $200 with re-bids.MTE, MTW, and TS$200 - $210 with re-bidsMTE, MTW, and CPS$200 - $210 with re-bids.Does this seem like a good bidding strategy? Maybe my dates are difficult? I would also consider dropping to a 3.5 star rating if that might be a big help. I guess that would change my whole bidding strategy though. Any help is greatly appreciated.
thereuare Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Unfortuantely your dates are quite expensive, but i don't think you're too far away, how high are you willing to bid for a 4* for these dates? smally Posted September 14, 2009 Author Report Posted September 14, 2009 Thanks for the response. I'm trying to stay under $200 if at all possible. If I went with a 3.5 star, do you think $175 - $200 would do it for MTW, MTE, or TS?
thereuare Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 $200 or less is possible for a 3.5*, but based pon rates i'm currently seeing i can't say for certain, it's not clear cut enough for me to say "yes, i think you'll success", as it'll be close, imo. Would you like for us to suggest a strategy for those three zones? (do you no longer want to bid CPS if bidding 3.5*?)Also, note at the 3.5* level other zones can come into play as well... are you interested in MSG at all? (since you didnt' want ESB at the 4* leve i assume you're not interested at the 3.5* level either)Let us know if any other zones are of interest to you, and confirm you're not interested in CPS, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow if you want to try for this star category. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. smally Posted September 14, 2009 Author Report Posted September 14, 2009 I'd like to try 3.5 star in the MTE, MTW, TS zones. I'm a litle scared of including CPS since I've read some bad reviews of the Hudson Hotel in that zone. I'm not really interested in ESB zone right now. If my next attempts fail though, I may add that zone as a last resort. Thanks again for any bidding strategy.
thereuare Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 That's fine that you're avoiding the CPS zone, just wanted to make sure it wasn't unintentionally omitted. Also, just want to also point out the Millenium UN is a 3.5* in the MTE zone, which while a nice hotel and generally gets good reviews, it's a little far east and about a 15 minute walk to the subway (although there is also a bus stop right near the hotel).Assuming you're fine with any 3.5* or better hotel in the MTW, MTE, and TS zones...At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* MTE...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE and MTW...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE and TS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW and MTW and TS...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW and MTW and TS and re-bis zone2...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW and MTW and TS and re-bis zone3...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW and MTW and TS and re-bis zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. smally Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 It took awhile, but I was finally successful. I did end up with the Millenium UN at $185. While it's a little far east, I don't mind the extra walk to save almost $100 a night on the non-Priceline rates I was seeing. From the reviews I've read, I'll be sure to request the West tower when I check-in.Thank you for all the help. I used the PRICELINE link to bid and I will definitely use it for all future travel.
thereuare Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Congratulations on your success! While the location is a little east, the hotel does get very good reviews and i'm sure you'll enjoy your stay in what appears to be turning into an expensive weekend in NYC.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
