katodisc Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Hi, I'm new at this so please bear with me.I started out at $55 for a 4* in Dupont Circle and White House, then added Capitol Hill as I went up to $60 and then $65 by adding Alexandria. No luck.I then dropped down to a 3.5* at Dupont for $60 and PRICELINE came back and asked to raise it to $17 as a counteroffer. I didn't. I added White House to Dupont and raised my bid to $65. That's when it hit on Hilton Washington, 1919 Connecticut Ave. NW.I checked their web site and the best available rates were $119 for the Saturday night, then $194 for Sunday. The hotel is undergoing a $140 million renovation, but the work is isolated. Business travelers love it and families with young kids don't (the pool is closed, as well as the gym). They charge $28 a day for parking and $13 a day for internet (two other complaints). Construction noise from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.If you can live with those parameters, it's a steal.
