TN_Forester Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Thanks BetterBidding for all the insightfull strategies and everyone else for posts of sucessful/regected bids. Heading to NYC 9/15 to 9/20 and want to stay in the Midtown area. Have been bidding for 5 days now with no sucess but thought I would share my progress. Evidently, Fashion Week is ongoing and prices seem to be a bit higher than some of the other sucessful bids that I have seen for other timeframes. Thanks BetterBidding for all the info. I have learned how to make more bids, chacked (and rechecked) hotel prices and used them for my bidding, and always entered PRICELINE through your link! Since my travel dates are nearing, what is your experiences as for the Hotel threshold prices being lowered? So far, these bids have been rejected over my progressing of bids:4* TS/MTW/CPS/MTE up to $225 - rejected4* ESB up to $195 - Rejected3.5* TS/MTW/CPS/MTE/ESB/MSG up to $241 - rejected3* TS/MTW/CPS/MTE up to $195 - rejectedToday, I will check sofa and washer for loose chage and increase my bids! :) Not that I don't have the funds... it's more of a challenge now to grab a deal! Today is a new day in the bidding world!
thereuare Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Glad to hear the information here has been useful to you thus far. It's impossible to say if rates will come down, or up further, between now and your stay.Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? For instance, you can get a 4* hotel for 9/18-9/20 for much less than you have already bid (~$150 or less)... then figure out what you'll do for the more expensive 9/15-9/18/ nites. (which are stil quite expensive)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. TN_Forester Posted September 12, 2009 Author Report Posted September 12, 2009 Thanks for the splitting suggestion. I do see how it may lower costs but from past experiences of changing hotels during a vacation... it's just not me. Today is that new day and my goal is to get a rooom set! Heck fire... it's almost time to pack! :) We're going to see/do lots on this visit but sure we will come back again. Will be ready to take on these hotels then! And perhaps not come during fashion week...HA!Stay tuned for my winning bid and those rejected.
thereuare Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 I like the optimism... my fingers are crossed for you! :)Thanks for using our board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.Good luck!
