I'm trying to find a 4* in any of the above mentioned 4 locations from Sept 15th to 21st. As a tourist I presume these 4 areas are all fine. I started off with $85. I now want to increase. I just wanted to confirm I can add Skokie and be 100% sure that Skokie isn't possible to get as there's no 4* hotels there? Likewise with O'Hare South?

Would Greater Chicago be OK for a tourist as well?

I used the PRICELINE link

Welcome to the site. :)

I would definitely not recommend the Hyde Park (which I believe is a new zone?) area, nor would I recommend the Lincoln Park area. Greater Chicago is also an absolute no-no for a tourist in my opinion. The Greater Chicago zone has some iffy areas and Hyde Park is FAR from downtown. I'm glad you asked, as if I were a tourist and found myself staying in the Greater Chicago or Hyde Park zones, I'd be pretty disappointed.

The Lincoln Park area is a nice area, but there's VERY few hotels in this area and given the lack of inventory, deals are generally not as good as what is found downtown (River North/NMA or Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park.) I'd only recommend those two areas.

What would be your budget per night for hotel?

My budget is $150 a night.

If I bid on a 4* including just two areas (River North/NMA or Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park), can I then add Skokie and O'Hare South just so I can make new bids straight-away but be certain (well 99% certain) that I won't get a hotel in those 2 areas (Skokie and O'Hare Sth)?

Yes, Skokie and OHare South are currenlty re-bid zones at the 4* level (but always doublecheck them just before bidding, using the technique outlined in the link below, to make sure nothing has changed)... but you have FIVE such re-bid zones when bididng for a 4* hotel in Chicago, so you can bid much more than if you just used the two re-bid zones above. As well, you could bid NMA and Loop individually, and then together, to further increase the number of bidding opportunities you have in a bidding cycle.

Please see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and confirm your FIVE re-bid zones with the board, as well, if you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a bidding strategy for you to follow.
