skitz1015 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I found a 5* condo listing on Hotwire (10/10 - 10/12) with the following amenities:Spa ServicesStudioFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessKitchenetteCondoThere's no casino so I thought it was Trump but then it's also Central Strip instead of North and I'm totally lost about the condo part. From what I found on the internet it could be Tahiti Village or the MGM Lofts but do these show up on Hotwire? Please help. :) Thanks! :)
skitz1015 Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 I found a 4* hotel listing on Hotwire (10/10 - 10/12) with the following amenities:CasinoFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterGolf NearbySpa ServicesFrom what I found on the internet it could be Treasure Island or The Mirage. Please help. Thanks! :)
yellowdog Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! There's no casino so I thought it was Trump but then it's also Central Strip instead of NorthAre you looking for Trump?4* Central Strip. Best guess for this property would be Treasure Island. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase, and let us know how it goes.Yellowdog.PS. Please keep all posts in the same thread since posts are for the same dates.
skitz1015 Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 No, I'm not looking for Trump. I was trying to avoid it if at all possible but I know there's no guarantee with PRICELINE. I had just never seen a 5* condo listing in Center Strip. Only hotel rooms. What do you make of this condo listing?Sorry about the multiple posts. :)
yellowdog Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 skitz1015Are you going to go with PRICELINE?Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 The 5* above is mostly likely the Trump... if you're trying to avoid this property then use HOTWIRE and choose a property which shows a casino icon :)If you go with PRICELINE and bid the Strip North there is no way to avoid the Trump... not even by bidding 4* since the star rating you select is the minimum you are willing to accept and PRICELINE could always upgrade your 4* bid to a 5* property. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. skitz1015 Posted July 29, 2009 Author Report Posted July 29, 2009 I was only trying to avoid Trump because I thought my group would be particular about having a casino in the hotel but turns out they're not. So I think I'm going to try PRICELINE. I've seen others have success with Trump for $100 or less. Plus there's always the [slim?] chance I'll get the Venetian or Wynn.
thereuare Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 At the 5* level you have FIVE NINE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strp North (and Strip South if that zone is equally acceptable)...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. skitz1015 Posted July 29, 2009 Author Report Posted July 29, 2009 According to your directions, I'm counting nine re-bid zones:Zones that do NOT have 5* hotels:1 Boulder Strip2 Fremont St. Vicinity 3 Henderson - Lake Las Vegas 4 Las Vegas Airport (LAS) 5 Las Vegas Convention Center 6 Near Las Vegas Strip East 7 Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway 8 Summerlin - NW Las Vegas 9 West of StripPretty much everywhere BUT the strip. I checked each box one by one and looked at what star levels were available. Am I doing something wrong to get nine zones instead of the five you advised?
thereuare Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 You're correct, there are NINE re-bid zones... i typed it wrong, but as you can see from the strategy posted, it has you re-bid nine times.Sorry for the mistake. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. skitz1015 Posted July 30, 2009 Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 No problem. I'm new! So I thought I was misreading it or something. Thank you. :)
skitz1015 Posted September 7, 2009 Author Report Posted September 7, 2009 First bid on 4* Strip North - $80, rejected. Added, Nellis Speedway because there are no 4* hotels in that area and rebid $85, rejected. Added Strip South, $87, rejected. Priceline said if I would increase my bid by $22, I could rebid immediately without added a region but I declined. Added Boulder Strip and rebid at $90, was accepted by the Westin Casuarina. Happy because the location is not exactly South Strip (it's actually the same block as Bellagio and Caesar's Palace) which is more central strip than south. Plus, I think $90 is a great price but I'm finding out there's a hidden $15 resort fee and the hotel is about a 1/2 block back from the strip instead of right on the strip. :) But it's my first trip to Vegas and it's only 2 days so I'm thinking it'll be fine, right?? :) :o
