thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! The Golden Phoenix is a 2* rated property according to Priceline... not sure about the Fitgerald's.So examples of 3* properties would be: Peppermill. Eldorado, and Harrahs. If you'd like help with a suggested bidding strategy please post the dates of your stay and your maximum bid. thereuare
Check out HOTWIRE which seems to have the Atlantis for $80/nite.I assume that works well for you? :) Be sure to doublecheck what you see against the HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST.If you go for this let us know how it goes... if not, let us know what you want to do differently and we'll try to help further. Frrrank!
hello there. i prefer to stay in the downtown area -- the Atlantis is close to the airport. do you have a similar star breakdown for Priceline? that hotwire list is cool. Frank Link to comment
thereuare
Sorry, as you can see i don't know the area that well, but knew that the Atlantis was a 4* hotel so jumped the gun a bit when i saw it out there. Here are hotels that i know of that deal with Priceline and how they are rated... it should not be considered a complete list:2* La Quinta Inn Reno3* Eldorado Hotel and Casino3* Peppermill Hotel2* Sands Regency3* Silver Legacy Resort4* Atlantis2* Golden Phoenix3* Harrahs2* Fairfield Inn2.5* Best Western Airport2* Holiday Inn Reno Downtown4* Siena Hotel Spa and CasinoDo you think you'd want to bid higher for a 4* or go for a 3*? We'll suggest a strategy once you let us know. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Frrrank!
That is quite alright! The Atlantis is not close to downtown at all. :) I am thinking about trying to bid for a 3 star. (or should I?) what should my next move be? i am locked out of a 4 star re-bid until Thursday...Thanks for the list! Link to comment
thereuare
First thing i would do is book yourself a cancellable back-up.Only you will know if you will be happy at a 3* hotel or not... but i do think it's a little early to be compromising your star quality (although i would suspect that this will be a high demand date due to the holiday). Are you willing to bid higher for a 4* or are you hoping that rates drop?Would you consider SPLITTING YOUR BID? Frrrank!
i am thinking about the high demand rate due to the holiday. not only is it new year's but a three day weekend for most -- plus skiing in tahoe is only 25 minutes away. i don't want miss out on a good deal but also jumping the gun's not good either. what do you advise? thereuare
I'd need to know if you're considering raising your bid, hoping for 4* rates to go down, or bidding for 3*.Find yourself a cancellable back-up and book-it. This will also enable you to the weigh the alternative to help you decide what to do at this juncture. If you're back-up is 'ok', then wait. If your cancellable back-up is a lot more money or at the bowels of the hotel heirarchy, then there is more need to take quicker action. You also didn't comment if SPLITTING YOUR BID is an option, which would let you bid again immediately as well as take off some of the pressure if you can get part of your stay taken care of.I think your next step is to answer the question: "If Priceline is completely sold-out, where would i stay and how much?" Knowing your next best option will enable you to make a better decision. We can help in weighing your options, but only you know what you would consider to be your next best option. (for some it would be a high quality hotel at much more money, for others it would be a lesser quality hotel for the same amount you're bidding).
