pram99 Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 i am really not very picky in terms of stars, although of course the nicer the better. i don't want anything filthy.i am hoping to find something in the under $100 range. trying to stay CPS and below so i don't accrue expensive cab fares.any suggestions on how i go about this with PRICELINE?your help is indeed appreciated!thanks,-pram99
AaronJB Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)Unfortunately, these are pricey dates - as is NYC throughout much of this Fall, it seems - and $100 is going to be very difficult. You may be able to squeak by with a win at a 2*/2.5* in the Midtown area for that price, but I don't think you will be able to get a bit accepted for lower than that. Is there any particular area you would not prefer? Would you mind downtown? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
pram99 Posted September 4, 2009 Author Report Posted September 4, 2009 hi aaron, and thanks!i am actually fine with anything below CPS - as long as it isn't ghetto. i can prolly go up to $130 a night
thereuare Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 pram99,To avoid any miscommunication, please list the zones, by PRICELINE name, that you're willing to accept. As well, you're buying an opaque hotel... you don't know the hotel name or the location. There are hotels which some may not like, while others consider them a tremendous value. You know your personality best and need to choose a star level that you are comfortable with, keeping in mind that within in each star level there are some that are bumping up against the next highest star category... while others are just holding onto their star rating and the next move may be down to the next lowest star level. While there may be some low star rated hotels that you're fine with, there may be others in that same category that you're not fine with, and with PRICELINE and HOTWIRE you can't choose which type you will get. This is one of the reasons we recommend sticking with the better rated hotels (3* and above if you're on a budget) in NYC (unless you have a very good idea of the hotel you'll be receiving and it is one of the 'better' ones within the star category)I'll add that i think $130 is going to be tough for these dates at any star level. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please let us know the zones you'd like to bid and the minimum star rating you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
