existingalternatives Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Have been bidding for a couple of days alternating 4 and 5 stars starting from $50 all the way to $85 with no luck.Ended up going to HOTWIRE and booking for $89.Used the HOTWIRE links on this website.Btw, have you heard that Priceline's Athens area now includes Hellinikon Intl airport? It is a former airport in the SE suburbs, quite far from both downtown and new airport. The map on the site only circles the downtown...Does anyone know whether they have any 4* and 5* hotels in there?
yellowdog Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to book this :) Can you please post the name of the hotel you got. And the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog.PS. I can't help you with any information regarding the PRICELINE Athens zone.

existingalternatives Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 Have been bidding on Priceline for a couple of days alternating 4* and 5* starting with $40 all the way to $89 - no luck!Beware, Priceline's Downtown Athens now includes Airport area as well. There could be some confusion as they refer to the ATH International as Hellinikon, which is closed to passenger traffic and is located SW of the city. The actual ATH airport is Eleftherios Venizelos and is located in the SE (both are pretty far from downtown and each other). There are two major hotel in the ATH area - Sofitel (4* or 5*) and Holiday Inn (3* or 4*)
yellowdog Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Thanx for the follow-up!Yellowdog.
