Hi,

I am going to New York from the 17-25 of September.

I have found a deal on Hotwire from the 17-21

It has-

Non Smoking Rooms

Fitness Center

Restaurant

Business Center

High Speed Internet Acess

The price is $233

Could anyone help me identify the hotel? or any other HOTWIRE deal suggestions. No luck with PRICELINE so far.

Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

I believe you can get the well reviewed Hotel Mela for the last 3 nites of your stay for ~$200/nite... then stay someplace else for the first nite of your stay (either a different 4* hotel, a lower rated hotel to save a few extra dollars, or if you arrive late someplace near the aiprort (which may or may not be worthwhile depending upon which airport, assuming your flying into town))

That sounds good. If I put 3 star Midtown $200 into Priceline should I get Hotel Mela?

No... what i believe to be the Hotel Mela is offered on HOTWIRE.

If you search HOTWIRE (please use our link) for 9/18-9/21 a 4* hotel in the Times Square zone appears for $200/nite (your price may differ by a few dollars) with: Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Hi-Speed Internet icons and a TA rating of 4.0/5.0... this matches previous reports for the Hotel Mela so that would be our best guess for this one.

This is not available when searching 9/17-9/21 so you'll need to find alternate accomodations for the first nite of your stay. (and i'm not sure if you have other plans for 9/21-9/25)

I just tried to book the Mela but I can't get it becuause it only allows for 2 people max and I am one adult two children.

I have been trying to split it and find a hotel from 21-24 4* on Hotwire. I have noticed the 17-22 is much cheapier. Any reason why? Maybe because the further away the more expensive?

Rates are date specific based upon demand for those actual dates. In NYC, weekends are a little less busy than midweek, which would be an easy explanation for the difference in rates you're seeing, although there could be other factors as well (ie- conventions, events, etc)

Exactly what are the dates of your complete stay? Do you have anything booked for any part of this stay? How old are your children?

My exact New York dates are check in 17/9 to checkout the 26/9. The kids are 17 and 15.

Because of the variations in prices on certain dates we were thinking of:

4* on Hotwire from 17-20

Stay at a friends house 20-24

Stay at a 5* hotel for either one or two nights.

So far we haven't booked anything.

I just got the Sheraton New York and Towers for $225 a night from the 17th/9 to 20/9! The amenities are Smoke Free Rooms, Business Center, Fitness Center. High-speed internet access and Restaurant.
