johnringler Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I am trying to get a 4* Hotel on the Strip (either North or South) for the following dates:Check-in: Fri 09/04/2009Check-out: Sun 09/06/2009 (2 nights)I have tried many times already using the 2 free zone rebid. So far, my best offer is $85 and it has been rejected.I understand that my offers might be way too low as it is Labor Day weekend. After my bid is rejected, Priceline offers me a rate of $170 per night for a 4* hotel in the zones I requested.Does that mean that, if I rebid tomorrow, I won't get anything under $170?If this is not the case, what should my next bid be?Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding... we've been waiting for your first post :)You can probably do better than the $170 counter-offer... but more than likely the 'right' number is going to be much closer to $170 than it is to $85. johnringler Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 Hello, Thank you for your feedback.I have placed some bids again today and all were rejected. My highest offer was $140 for 4* Hotel in North & South Strip zones.I'll try again tomorrow but I really don't want to spend more than $150 per night.

johnringler Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 Yes I would be happy if you can suggest a bid strategy.I am interested in a 4* or 5* on the Strip (South Strip or North Strip).Since Priceline is offering me a rate of $170 a night for a 4* hotel, it doesn't leave a lot of margin to save money (since my $140 bid was rejected) but if I can save $10 or $20, that's good enough. Now, if I can get a 5* hotel on the Strip for around $150, that's even better. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Are you seeing anything of interest on HOTWIRE? Have you tried $145 on PRICELINE?
thereuare Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 First a caveat... the Westin is a 4* hotel in PRICELINE's South Strip zone but is located slighty off-strip. The Trump is a 5* hotel in the North Strip zone but it too is located slightly off the strip (and also has a $15 resort fee). These are both possibilities when you bid the North and South Strip zones... just making sure you'd be ok with either (the Trump is still possible if you're 4* bid is updated to a 5* hotel)At the 4* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* South Strip...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $141, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* North Strip...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $141, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* South Strip and North Strip...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
