rkkwan Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Here's a quick review...Friday afternoon, my cousins checked in three rooms. I've told them to call the hotel ahead to reserve the room type they want (non-smoking, double beds); but somehow the front desk gave them rooms with one bed. The hotel was kind of full, but they did get the double rooms at the end on the 10th floor. They also opted for the self-parking for $8, as the other choice was $15 valet. When I checked in the three rooms on Saturday afternoon, the front desk (nice, friendly guy) acknowledged my room type choice, and immediately gave me the room-type I want, and because I have a Starwoods card, we were assigned the higher Starwoods Preferred floor on the 16th. And the front desk told me about a 3rd parking option - free parking at the Sheraton just across the street! [i of course took up that offer! :) ]The room is pretty much standard Westin quality. The view from the 16th floor room should be pretty nice, facing south towrads Downtown, except the weather wasn't cooperating. Didn't use the other facilites, so no comments there.Anyways, the conclusion is that I and my cousins are getting somewhat different impression. I am totally satisfied, while they are not. And I can't explain totally how and why that happened, other than the fact that I have a Starwoods card (which anybody can sign up for), and I got there on a Saturday rather than a Friday.
grizparker Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I finished my stay at the Westin and was very pleased. I don't have any pictures to show, but the rooms were nice and the staff was excellent. I signed up for a "Starwood Preferred Guest" membership before I arrived. When I was checking in, I showed my SPG membership information, and they put me on a Starwood Preferred Guest floor (16th). It seemed basically the same as any other floor, however it was very quiet and the room came with one complimentary bottle of water (it said "Compliments of Starwood Preferred Guest Services"). Since it is free...I recommend signing up for this if you plan to stay at any Starwood hotels. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful. We told her what we were looking to eat that afternoon and she printed off a list of local restaurants and a menu for the one we picked. She also gave us directions to the best local desert places. As always, the heavenly bed and bath were extremely comfortable. We were very pleased with our stay.
