Evess
We are intending to stay in NYC for 6 nights. Is it reasonable to bid for 2* and above at US80 to US100? Some hotels are quite far from the Metro eh? Please help! TIA! Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to the site. :)What areas are you willing to stay within? Is your max budget $100?Keep in mind that some of the 2* properties in NYC may not be "ideal".Additionally, when you are using PRICELINE, there's no way to guarantee which hotel you may get, so there's no way to know for sure how far it will be from transit. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links when you are ready to purchase. Evess
We have no special area of interest. Oh, which means it's better to bid for 3* and above? Yes you can say our maximum budget is US100. So for a 3* we should increase to how much? Link to comment
thereuare
I don't think your $100 budget is realistic for NYC this time of year... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional means? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Evess
In this case, we shall up our budget to $150 for a 3* hotel. Is this still unrealistic? Link to comment
thereuare
I'd suggest you give it a try... but i still think $150 will be tough for these particular dates. What areas are you willing to stay within????Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
At the 3* level you don't have any re-bid zones available. Evess
No luck even with maximum bid of $180 for 3*. No luck too with 2.5*, max bid of $170. Is it because we need 6 consecutive nights therefore it's kind of hard to get? Is it advisable to split the bid then? Link to comment
Evess
2.5* Chelsea - Madison Square Garden Area Hotel, 19/09/09 to 26/09/09Please help to ID this hotel. TIA! ETA: $225 per night with fitness centre and restaurant. I have a feeling it is Best Western. Link to comment

Evess
My apologies. So any comments anyone? I've tried splitting up the dates in HOTWIRE but seems like some days are cheaper and some are more expensive. I know we have to up our budget if not we wouldn't be able to score anything! Evess
How about 2* MTE Condo, $173 per night?Amenities: Suite, Studio, fully-equipped kitchen, air-conditioning, 24hour front desk, laundry facilities, high speed internet access and kitchenette.I have a feeling it is Sutton Place? thereuare
The 2.5* Chelsea property has not yet been reported to the board.... but i don't believe the Best Western has a restaurant on the premises which would exclude that property if HOTWIRE is showing a Restaurant icon. The 2* above is a match for the Sutton Place Suites so that would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Evess
Thanks. In this case, any wild guesses for what the 2.5* Chelsea hotel might be? Link to comment
thereuare
Not really any guesses, there are so many smaller hotels in the city, many of which you wouldn't even notice if you were just walking by unless you were making a it a point to look for them, that figuring out which one this may be based upon a Restaurant and Fitness icon would be a difficult task. If you wanted to 'roll the dice' with a random guess i'd sooner just use PRICELINE :)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Evess
Tried Priceline and bid for 2.5*. Started from 70, and got it at 100. Hotel is Comfort Inn Long Island City. :) Link to comment
