sunshine14 Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Hi everyone, This is a great resource!! I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. My husband and I will be in SF from September 20 through to the 23rd, and we are looking for a hotel.Ideally, we'd like 4* in either USW or USE. Using a combo of those areas and free re-bid zones, I've bid as high as 150 with no luck.Should I just suck it up and add another 4* area?Where am I going wrong?Generally what I do is start with USW, 4* with one bid, then add USE, up the price, and continue by adding the free re-bid zones. Is this wrong? Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Generally what I do is start with USW, 4* with one bid, then add USE, up the price, and continue by adding the free re-bid zones. Is this wrong?I wouldn't say that this is "wrong" per se, but you can do better as well as maximize your re-bid zones, although this may not be necessary if $150 is you maximum bid and you have been rejected thus far at that amount. What is your maximum bid? Besides alternate zones is lowering your star rating an option? What appears to be the 3.5* rated Galleria Park might be available for $135 if that is of any interest to you. sunshine14 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Report Posted August 29, 2009 thanks for the reply. We would probably go up higher, but I guess I'm being cheap and wanted a better deal :-)What do you think of staying in the Financial District? We are just going to be touring around the city if that matters.
Gallus50 Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Financial district/Embarcadero is a fine zone. SOMA is a bit noisy for me, but still very central. I'm not a fan of Civic Center, though I stayed at the GG Holiday Inn there and it was nice - close to California cable car and Whole Foods. FW is good, too, close to North Beach and Chinatown, though more touristy. Check out TravelZoo and TravelTicker if you're having trouble - they have some good deals through the fall. Let us know what you decide to do. Good luck.
