roachjl Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Hello-I am looking for a hotel in NYC for Jan 19-23. I would like to stay in one of the three Midtown Zones. We are going for a conference which is being held at the Waldorf Astoria. I would like to stay in a hotel reasonably close to that. I would like a 4 or 5 star hotel, If priceline doesn't work, There is a Conference rate at the Waldorf-Astoria for 199/night, which I will take if nothing better comes along. Part of me feels like I should take this rate and run, but part of me thinks it's too expensive and I could do better. I would be interested to hear what you think, and if you had any ideas on where to start bidding. Thanks for your help. Jesse
thereuare Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you're willing to stay anywhere in the MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS zones i think you can definately beat the $199/nite rate. With the subway, bus, and taxi system in NYC everything is becomes pretty close. When bidding 4* in NYC you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read this thread: PRICELINE REBIDDING and ask any questions that you may have (or feel free to confirm your two re-bid zones with the board if you just want to make sure)This is how i would proceed:Select 4* MTE and....Bid $100, if rejected add MTW and...Bid $105, if rejected add UM/CPS and..Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $125.The above has a decent chance, but also involves a bit of lowballing, so don't get discourage if you don't at first succeed with the above.... just report back as to your results and we'll revise accordingly.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck!
