mrsilver Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Hello,I was searching Chicago hotels in the Magnificent Mile area for three adults from August 28-30th and came up with a 4* hotel which I believe to be the Sheraton and a 4.5 star that is most likely the Intercontinental. When I learned another person would be joining us I searched again and neither hotel showed up. Any ideas on whether this is due to the fact those rooms my not have enough bedding for three people or is it just the way Hotwire sets it up?Any help is appreciated,Kyle
yellowdog Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Welcometo BetterBidding!HOTWIRE is working this way. You will/can get diffrent results depending on how many guests you're including in the search. Hotels load diffrent rates to the HOTWIRE booking system. And HOTWIRE is only showing the cheapest hotel for each parameter you serach on. And if you don't get any results for your search is there no rooms loaded to HOTWIRE for the parameters you have search for.If you need any ID help so please list the amenties HOTWIRE associates with the hotel you're looking at and we'll have a look at this.Yellowdog.
mrsilver Posted August 25, 2009 Author Report Posted August 25, 2009 Hey,I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to ID a 4* hotel in Magnificent Mile area for four people on August 28th and the 29th. The hotel is listed at $122 per night and has: Fitness CenterRestaurantHigh SpeedBusiness CenterIt also has a 4.5 tripadvisor rating based on 160+ reviews. Also, since I am booking it through Hotwire for four people does this mean I will be charged an extra person charge by the hotel anyways or is that taken into account in the price?Any help is appreciated!Kyle
thereuare Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Any additional person charge should already be included in the price... there shouldn't be any additional charge for a second bed, rollaway, etc.The property above is a match for the Westin River North so that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 The Westin River North is a wonderful 4* - one of my favorites. I'd recommend the potential WRN over the other available HOTWIRE options.
mrsilver Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Hey,So my first attempt at using Hotwire turned out to be not quite as successful as I had hoped. I ended up getting the 4* Westin River North in the Magnificent Mile for $159 per night for four adults on August 28th and 29th. The amenities shown were: fitness center, business center, restaurant, and highspeed with a 4.5 tripadvisor rating. The reason I booked it at this price at around 7am EST was because the price shot up to $198 late last night and then suddenly dropped again. Unfortunately, the price two days ago was $122 and there is now a 3.5* suite up for $98 for four people up now, which I most likely would have booked instead. Regardless, I want to thank the forum for help advice! Thanks again, Kyle
AaronJB Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Congrats on your success. While this is unfortunately more than you want to spend, I will say that at least this is an exceptional 4* property, and one of my favorites in the city. This is a former Hotel Nikko, and the lobby of this Westin does have a gorgeous Japanese style. The House of Blues is across the street, as is Bin 36, a very nice wine bar. There's a wide variety of restaurants and nightlife in the blocks North of the hotel (the River North neighborhood.)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
