natesmom Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)Those wins were bid around 2 months ago, and were not for all three dates, but each were only one of the three. Prices may have changed since those dates, especially if an event is going on in the area at this time. What would be your max bid/budget per night for hotel for these dates? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase when you are ready to book.Hi -I am in the same situation. I have been trying to bid on a hotel just for one night - Saturday, Oct. 4th. I would like the Copley Square, Quincy area or even Waterfront areas (I think! These are all good areas within walking distance of everything, right?? We've never been to Boston before!). Anyway, I have been bidding over the last several days - going up to 95.00 today for a 2 1/2 star on up and everything has been rejected. Last week I did place a bid for Sunday night, Sept. 27th and won a 3 star hotel - Courtyard Marrott - Tremont St - for $52.00! But now booking the Saturday date is more difficult - I'm assuming because it IS a Saturday, right? I would be willing to go up to $115 - $120 or so - because comparing prices in downtown Boston that seems like a good deal still. Any advice would be appreciated here as well!Thank you!
AaronJB Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)Moved this to its own thread. Additionally, please post your win for 9/27 for the Courtyard as a separate thread, as that information will help others looking for that same date.My guess is that there's something going on over this weekend that is causing rates to be higher - not uncommon for rates in major cities to vary wildly, based upon traffic.Additionally, 10/4 is a Sunday. Do you mean 10/3?Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links when you are ready to book.
thereuare Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 I have been trying to bid on a hotel just for one night - Saturday, Oct. 4th. I would like the Copley Square, Quincy area or even Waterfront areas (I think! These are all good areas within walking distance of everything, right??FYI, the Waterfront area is a bit removed from the center of the city... it's easily accessible vai the Silver Line, or if you like to walk it is walkable (15-20 minutes), but when you walk out of your hotel room you won't feel like you'er "in the city".Let us know if you'd like to include this zone going forward, confirm the date of your stay and the star rating you're trying for, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. natesmom Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Sorry - yes - I made a mistake on the date. I am trying for Saturday, Oct. 3rd. I guess I would like a more centrally located area - more "in the city." So my best options from what I've read are the Copley and Quincy areas, correct? Any there other areas I should add if we want to be in the heart of things - or short walking distance to them - with no car? I would be willing to go as low as 2 1/2 star - or even 2 star if it's a great price. We don't need anything fancy, as it will be just to sleep for one night. For a 3 star I'd be willing to go up to $100, but if a lower star I'd wish for it to be a lower price...Thank you for any help you can provide! I did see what there was a Red Sox/Cleveland Indians game that night - maybe that's the reason?Thank you again!Tracy
natesmom Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Actually for a 3 star on a Saturday I'd be willing to go up higher - $115 or $120 - is that about right and a good deal still?
thereuare Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 So to begin you want to try for a 3* in either the Copley or Quincy Market zones up to $120?At the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3* Copley...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Quincy...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley and re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Quincy and re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley and Quincy...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley and Quincy and re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. natesmom Posted August 28, 2009 Author Report Posted August 28, 2009 Hi -I just want to be sure - you are referring to the rebid zones as Fenway and North Cambridge, correct, since there are no 3 star hotels in those areas? Just want to double-check since I've never used the rebidding strategy before. Thanks again!
thereuare Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 Yes, those are currently you're two re-bid zones... but always doublecheck just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
