SuntanD Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 I have tried for a month now to get a hotel in downtown Miami for our pre-cruise on October 31st in both 3.5 and 4*. I have bid all the way up to $70 with no success, which is discouraging because I have seen many winning bids for a 4* in the downtown area for $55.I have used Priceline numerous times and have never had any trouble securing a room.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thank you,D
AaronJB Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 Please first follow-up with what you decided to do in regards to this Priceline Fort Lauderdale stay (post in that thread, not here), then reply to this thread and we will be happy to look into the above.Thank you.
thereuare Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 Rates are date specific so while somebody else may have been able to win for less during times of low demand, occupancy for your dates may be a bit higher than usual and will require a higher than usual (or 'normal' if comparing to winning bids for low occupancy dates) bid.I don't think you're too far off at this point, a 4* Downtown might be had for somewhere $80-$100 if i was going to guess a range, but not sure of your budget if you're willing to increase your bid at this time or would rather wait it out longer. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and how we can be of further help.Good luck and keep us updated. SuntanD Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 I am hoping to secure a 4* room for no more than $80. Maybe a 3.5* is an option - I'm not sure if it is or not. Will await your response and guidance.Thank you.
thereuare Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 I'm not sure if you're asking if PRICELINE offers 3.5* hotels in Miami, but if that's your question, yes they do.I'm not sure if you want to try $80 beforel dropping down to a 3.5* or push a little further for a 4* given that i believe you're somewhat close... it's reallly personal prefernce as to what you expect from your hotel stays and what sort of level of service and amenities you're seeking from this stay.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. SuntanD Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 I'd like to push a little further for a 4* please - I think I would be happier with the hotels I have seen won. Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 When was your last rejected bid of $75 made? How high are you willing to bid at this point in time? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. SuntanD Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 My last rejected bid was $70. two nights ago for a 4*.I am willing to go to $80. max. Thanks!

Maybe it's time to try for a 3* or 3.5* as my cruise is just over a month away. The only other alternative I see at this point is HOTWIRE.Suggestions please, and thank you!
thereuare Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 I don't think you're too far off, if you stretched your budget to $100($110?) for a 4* i think you might stand a better chance at this point in time. If you'd rather lower to 3.5* i think you have a good chance at levels you have already bid. Also, if budget is a concern, you may also want to consider the Airport zone, which is often fairly inexpensive.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. SuntanD Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 I'll try at the 3.5* level at the bidding strategies you previously gave me and let you know how that works out ... or at the 3.5* if you think there is a better way of bidding, please advise at your convenience.Oh yes, forgot to mention - we prefer to stay in the downtown area for the pre-cruise night. Thanks again!
thereuare Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 At the 3.5* level you have fewer re-bid zones (only FIVE of them) so you'll need to make some changes to the 4* bidding strategy above. Is $80 your maximum bid at the 3.5* level as well? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. SuntanD Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 Yes, because if all else fails I noted I can get a 3* on HOTWIRE for $76.
thereuare Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 At the 3.5* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* Downtown...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Downtown and re-bid zone5...Bid $72, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $74, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $76, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $80Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. To date, I have not been successful bidding up to the $80 max on the 3 1/2*.Thank you.
