Edemp Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Previously had good success using PRICELINE . However, never used for Wash. DC. Trying to book four rooms for A week in late Oct. I have tried 3 , 3 and 1/2 and 4 stars and big up to $130 > in Dupont Circle area> no luck. that is the area everyone suggested most... Wondering if it is because it is the area or the time out. Usually when I book it is a few weeks or days from arrival date. ANy thoughts or suggestions? even other areas> sightseeing with kids want to take metro...Wondering how far in advance someone has booked a room through bidding on PRICELINE? Do you think the further from arrival date the higher price vs closer to the better price???
AaronJB Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 There is no "right or wrong" answer to this question - it all varies upon date, hotel and traffic. Some people wait and manage to see prices fall. On the other hand, I've helped quite a few people who decided to wait to book and then, closer to the date, found that prices ramped up and/or the deals that they wanted were simply gone. Overall, waiting to book is placing a bet that prices will go down, and it definitely doesn't always work that way. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase. What are the dates of travel? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase when you are ready to book.
Edemp Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 No luck on Priceline for the White house or Dupont area for the Week of Oct 21-28 . I needed four rooms. I tried both areas 3.5 star and 4 star up to $150. I even tried a 3 Star for $75.I tried a 3.5 star at convention center for $80 . Going to see what I can get in Alexandria. Not used to paying that much have better luck in Atlanta and Nashville>
thereuare Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 I'm guessing it may take $165-$200 for a 3.5* or 4*... what is your maximum bid for the White house or Dupont zones? What is your maximum bid for Alexandria? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
