fan2see Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 New to this. Placed bid on priceline for San Juan Feb 5-6. 2* for 70.00, rejected. Changed zones and increase bid to 75.00, rejected. Should I just wait the 72 hrs to rebid? Any help, or suggestions. Thanks
thereuare Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding!Technically there are no free re-bid zones in the San Juan area. Were you 'ok' with staying in the second zone that you bid?San Juan is also notorious for only releasing rooms close to check-in date, it may be a bit early for this bid.I will also add that generally speaking, San Juan is not a very good hotel market... high prices and low service; i don't know if i would take the chance on a completely opaque purchase at that star level. Is this a pre-cruise stay? fan2see Posted November 18, 2004 Author Report Posted November 18, 2004 This is a pre- cruise stay. I'll just wait a little while longer before rebidding. Would you suggest that I wait Dec or Jan. We leave on Feb 5. We also will be stay post-cruise in San Juan for 3 days.Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 First, reserve yourself a cancellable back-up.Second, as i stated above, i would re-consider using Priceline for a 2* hotel. If you choose to do so that's fine and we will still try to help, but i'd sooner go for a Resort property (where there is better value thru Priceline) or go with Hotwire (if there is any competitive pricing) where you can often figure out the hotel beforehand... this way you can most likely avoid any of the real 'horror' properties.
