katang Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 hi, new to this site and cant believe the fabulous bargain prices. Want to book the Affinia Manhatten for 1 night in September (very early bus journey from Penn Station and would like to be as close as possible). Calender shows a win for the Affinia for that night at $110. can you recommend how I could do same. Many thanks.
AaronJB Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Welcome to the site.Keep in mind that PRICELINE is, more or less, "luck of the draw". It is also "date-specific" in terms of rates and inventory - the post you mention was for more than just this particular date, and that bid was done a couple of months ago. Prices have changed since. You could attempt to bid $110 for a 3.5* in the Madison Square Garden-Convention zone and see if that bid is accepted, but I'm not sure how likely that is at this point in time, or for one night versus several. Additionally, while the Affinia Manhattan is the only reported 3.5* property in this zone, there's always the possibility that another, previously unreported hotel could be seen as a win (and, if so, the "luck of the draw" aspect comes into play.)Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase, and please ask if you have any questions.
thereuare Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! One of the reasons for the deep discounts you see on the board is that you can't choose the specific hotel. With PRICELINE you can only choose the minimum star rating, zone (based upon PRICELINE's predefined boundaries), and bid price. If your new to the 'opaque providers' i'd start here: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire. After reading the above let us know if/how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
