thereuare
Please keep all posts regarding the same stay in the same thread. The hotel lists should not be considered inclusive, from the top of every hotel list on the board you'll find:This list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Hotwire offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Hotwire all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject to change, so it's always a good idea to look at the Hotwire map before purchasing. In light of the above, you MAY get a hotel that is NOT on this list, or get a hotel on this list but at a star level you didn't expect (if the star rating has changed). If you'd like help identifying the hotels please provide all of the amenities that Hotwire associates with the property. brats
Managed to get through to Priceline with a Canadian address adapted as I had read aboutBut was not as lucky as the previous bidderI did not get 3* for Vancouver Airport for 27th Dec to 28th 2004my bid was midway hers at $33 but it came back as a NO with no counter,So I assume I have to wait 72hrs before bidding again I can get something through Hotwire for $55But I thought i would try Priceline for lower of course, after I had read oe of the other posts Link to comment
WillTravel
I'm not sure when the previous poster got her bid, but the Canadian dollar has jumped significantly against the US dollar lately. So keep that in mind when looking at older winning bids. Link to comment
brats
Coast Hotel for $35 was 24th October 2004the dollar has not changed that drasticaly in 3 weeks Link to comment
thereuare
So why did you bid $33?Do you know of rates on 10/24 were the same as they are for your upcoming date? When bidding for 3* in this zone you do have two RE-BID ZONES available (but make sure you understand which ones they are before using them). brats
No I didn't know anything, I just took a stab Now I could go back and put Langley in as a different Zone as well but I'm a little scared that there could be a hotel in the *,even though they say there isn't ( I dont want to end up in Langley)Hotels for that night are around $50 US for 2* Link to comment
thereuare
If you're afraid to use re-bids then all you can do is wait... as you should only do things that you're comfortable with. Are you going to split the reservation for your VEGAS STAY? brats
No I dont think so its a pretty good deal I think I'll stay with that one, but I will try again for the Vancouver Airport one.Or maybe just take Hotwire 3* @ $50 ----Are the charges Taxes ect the same for Priceline as Hotwire there $15 on the $50 Link to comment
thereuare
Please add a reply to the Vegas post so that others reading it in the future will know what you ultimately decided to do and the thread will have some 'closure' and not be open-ended. However, i will add that i don't understand your reply... if you are able to cancel two of the nites and re-book them at a cheaper price, why wouldn't you do so? brats
NO I dont have anything to post yetbut when everone posts there wins I have noticed their Service and Taxes are approx $7 on $50 ( with Priceline ) and when I checkout Hotwire itsNo. of rooms: 1 No. of nights: 1 Price per night: $55.00 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes/Fees: $14.95 Total Price: $69.95 All taxes & fees included. thereuare
You assumption on Priceline's service fee and taxes are wrong. You can to thru the same procedure as you did above for Hotwire (stopping short of a purchase) to see the equivalent taxes and service fees for Priceline. Likewise you can do the same for Expedia. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
edyvr
FYI, Priceline doesn't not include GST in the tax and while Hotwire does.So for hotels in British Columbia, for example:Priceline pays hotels 7% less in tax than Hotwire because technically Priceline only sells rooms to Americans or foreigners where they can get the taxes exempted while Hotwire is allowed to sell rooms to Canadians and so they'll have to charge the GST.
