Priceline Hotel: 4* Orlando (Universal Studios-SeaWorld) Renaissance

Hi everyone,

Glad I found this board.. wish I found it before I made my priceline bid and it was accepted.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with selling their stay somewhere else after the bid has been accepted on Priceline, here's why...

My wife and I were all set to visit her best friend. She and her husband were set to adopt a baby boy, however the birth mother backed out two weeks beforehand. We were going to go down as part of a surprise baby shower, but now since it fell through they are instead coming to see us (we live in NY).

We put in a bid for the Renaissance Orlando Hotel At Seaworld from October 9th checking out October 13th and it was accepted at $70 a night.. Was it the best deal? Probably not.. but we were happy with it.

Our problem is with the cancellation policy (or lack thereof) with Priceline. I did talk to one rep named Edgar and he stated that while they cannot issue a refund, we could transfer it to someone else and have the hotel place it under that person's name.

So my question in a nutshell is: Has anyone had any experience selling a hotel stay they initially thought they would be able to complete, but could not? If so, what kind of sites and/or resources did you utilize?

This would contradict PRICELINE's Terms of Use, which current as per their website:

Can I change the name on my reservation?

Once a hotel booking is confirmed the name on the reservation cannot be changed. If more than one person is staying in the room, the reservation should be under the name of the person who will be arriving at the hotel first.
