I usually play with the bids if on vacation planned in advance. Im not inclined this time to spend significant time on bidding. Hotwire has some 4 star at between $299-$329.thanks

AaronJB Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Are you still seeing the 4* Downtown on HOTWIRE when searching? It's not showing when I just searched. The 4* MTE would likely be the W New York. Do any of the 3.5*'s appeal, as their price-points of $50-75 less than the 4*'s look like a good value on an expensive set of dates.Eurostars Wall Street ($228, -10% off using FABSAVE10 coupon code) and Stay ($248.75 - 10% using FABSAVE10) and the Affinia Dumont ($290 - 10% off using FABSAVE10) are options on Orbitz; I'd rather suggest the Affinia Dumont for $290 (-10% using the coupon code than the 4* MTE on HOTWIRE that's likely the W.Please let us know if you have any questions. Please use the site's Orbitz.com, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
thereuare Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Relative to the other hotels and prices you've mentioned, the Affinia Dumont deal seems pretty good as the hotel gets excellent reviews. What is your budget (per nite before fees and taxes) for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (or our Orbitz link if you go with the offer above) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

(or our Orbitz link if you go with the offer above)I do not have a specific budget but its business so i have to be cautious.. i am however only staying 3 days and with my wife so $300 a nite or so would be acceptable. i just want something that will cause me and my wife to enjoy , feel comfortable and safe and maybe most important allow my wife to be safe to come and go without me.

littledog1 Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 the 4 star downtown disappeared but a new suite hotel in the same financial/ soho are appeared at $309 with numerous amenities.Under the basic criteria that i am willing to spend $300. or so before taxes per night and my priority is that i want my wife to be comfortable coming and going while im at work, what would you do. thanks
AaronJB Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 The 4* Suite/Downtown (Suite, Restaurant, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Center, Laundry) property that is showing when I search would likely be the Embassy Suites Downtown. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.

AaronJB Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 The Affinia Dumont is a specific hotel. There are other Affinia locations, but I believe that the Dumont was the least expensive (least expensive of the higher-end Affinia's) of the bunch. If you want to stay downtown, the ES would at least offer breakfast and evening reception. If you want to stay in Midtown, I think the Affinia Dumont is a more appealing alternative than the 4* MTE that HOTWIRE is offering.

AaronJB Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 <<Under the basic criteria that i am willing to spend $300. or so before taxes per night and my priority is that i want my wife to be comfortable coming and going while im at work, what would you do. thanks>>In terms of that, I'd rather suggest the Affinia. The Affinia Dumont also has the Oasis Day Spa, which they bill as an "affordable luxury" spa (see http://www.oasisdayspanyc.com/, which lists all sorts of current specials.)She may enjoy a little spa time while you're out. The hotel also gets excellent reviews (#10 on tripadvisor for NYC.)Please use the Orbitz.com link (and remember to use the FABSAVE10 coupon code) if this idea is of interest.
AaronJB Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Additionally, there is a refrigerator (and some have kitchens) in the studio suites at the Affinia, as well.
littledog1 Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 thanksI am taking your suggestion and booking the affinia dumont. Orbitz however did not recognize the FABSAV10 code. any suggestions. thanks
littledog1 Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 Additionally, there is a refrigerator (and some have kitchens) in the studio suites at the Affinia, as well.i went ahead and booked the affinia thru Orbitz but over the phone. Orbitz did not recognize the coupon code via the internet but gave me the extra 10% over the phone. Even the bad reviews stated the hotel was well located. I actually upgraded from the studio suite to the junior suite for a total of $980.00 including all taxes for three nights. The studio suite for 3 nights would have been about $50.00 less. As I understand it, the upgrade assures me of a king size bed and there is an added little living room area. thank you for all your assistance. I'll let you know about the accommodations
AaronJB Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Thank you for the follow-up. Enjoy your stay.
