Congratulations, you got your price of $40 for a 4-star hotel room.

Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel (New World Wing)

Golden Triangle (City Centre)

Corner Of Jalan Sultan Ismail And Jalan Ampang

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

60-3-21622233

Check-In Date: Friday, December 24, 2004

Check-Out Date: Wednesday, December 29, 2004

Your Offer Price: $40.00

Number of Rooms: 1

Number of Nights: 5

Subtotal: $200.00

Taxes & Service Fees: $31.19

Total Charges: $231.19

Bid the $40 minimum for a 4*, hoping to get upgraded to the 5* Renaissance. Instead, looks like the 5* Renaissance has been DOWNGRADED to a 4*. If I had known this, I would have gambled and bid the minimum for a 3* as the hotel's website had a price of US$59/night.

Oh well, still saved a bit. Hope the New World Wing is not as lousy as some reviewers have indicated.

Seems like an inexpensive city... thanks for the new hotel for the lists!

I have heard that stealing credit card numbers over there is fairly rampant so keep a close watch on your statements after your return.

Have a great trip and enjoy your stay(s).

Yeah, KL didn't seem to offer good PL deals up to date as the hotels in KL are usually already quite inexpensive by booking over the official sites. Well, maybe this bid could mean that PL makes now a difference between the New World Wing and the Renaissance Wing for the Renaissance as it seems to be clearly identified ("New World Wing") in your post.

I booked the Westin recently (june this year) for around 380 MYR (GOV rate) for an executive floor room... (filling my SPG account)... really a nice hotel though the service could be improved (and EF is not worth the surcharge)... - The JW is just next door and looks nice too.

Hey Chris,

I wanted the Westin as well... I simply like the Westin style more. But I don't want to end up 2-3 nights short of Marriott Rewards Platinum... My friend is staying at the Sheraton Imperial - is that anywhere near? Never been to KUL before.

Sheraton Imperial is a bit more away from the fun areas but still ok.. and taxis are cheap in KL. The JW is in fine location! Better than the Renaissance though the Renaissance usually gets better reviews (in the Renaissance Wing). They offer "bay view rooms" in the Ren as well (56sqm or something) for only less more money to the quality room.
