asteurnagel Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 It's our first trip to Washington. Looking for 4 nights Sept 4th - 8th. Would like an ideal location for easy access to all the sites, in a great area. Can't see this on the hotel list so need some help (using your HOTWIRE Link of course):4* White House - Capitol Hill - $94 Boutique, fitness, business center, hi-speed internet, golf, tennisor4* Dupont Circle - Embassy Row - $94Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi Speed Int.Would you recommend these areas to a first time visitor couple? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 I'm not seeing the Whilte House property on my own current search, are you still seeing the White House property above on your own HOTWIRE search? If so, are you searching for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children?Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
asteurnagel Posted August 14, 2009 Author Report Posted August 14, 2009 No - you are right - it is gone now... Instead now it is showing:4* White-House $79Amenities: Fitness, Business, Hi-Speedand 4* Dupont Circle - $94Fitness, Restaurant, Business and Hi-SpeedI also just noticed that 3.5* Dupont Cicle $79 has come upAmenities are : Restaurant and Business onlyWhat are the chances that you think this is the 3.5* Hilton Washington and Towers (previously 4*)? Thanks so much!
thereuare Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 I'm not currently seeing the 3.5* Dupont Circle property and the 4* hotels above have not yet been identified. However, if you change your search to 2adults/2children a 3.5* in the Dupont Circle zone for $79/nite appears with:Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Business, Laundry and a TA review of 4.5/5.0 with 360+ reviewsThis is a match for the very well reviewed Embassy Suites so that would be my best guess.... would this work well for your plans? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts on the above and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
asteurnagel Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 Thanks for all your help. I decided to go with Priceline, and go for the chance of getting the Palomar, as HOTWIRE never again showed the POOL icon, nor a Trip Advisor rating for my dates on the 4*. Your 3.5 star option looked great, but since we had 4 nights there, we wanted to go for the 4* this time.I will post the win in the Priceline forum, of which I used your PRICELINE link to access! Thanks!
asteurnagel Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 I am extremely happy to have won this hotel. In addition to doing some HOTWIRE research, here is the bidding I followed to eventually win the hotel I was aiming for!Bid 4* (Dupont Circle - Woodley Park) $70 - rejectedAdded Crystal City, Bid $76 - rejectedAdded Suburbs - Northeast Area, Bid $81 - rejectedToday - 4 days later:Bid $85 - 4* Dupont Circle - Woodley Park - counter offer for $22 increase which I declined.5 hours later, Bid again for 4* Dupont Circle $95 and although I was expecting it to say I needed to change some criteria, it surprised me with it being Accepted! Even better - I got the Hotel Palomar which I was really aiming for. Extremely glad I didn't go for the counter as I saved $12 per night.I saw that 4* in this area was up to $94/night on HOTWIRE, so that is why I bid on $95 (as my husband was happy if we just came in under $100). Thanks!
