holtcomedy Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I will be coming to St. Louis on 10/24/09 and will check out on 10/25/09. I will be in town for a concert and would love to be walking distance from the ScottTrade Center. Any suggestions and ideas of what kind of rates I could get? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is more important ot you... price or location? With PRICELINE your hotel can be anywhere in the shaded boundaries of the zone, so you won't be able to target a location within walking distance to ScottTrade Center. HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, but you have the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you will likely received (and therefore an educated guess as to how close/far it is to ScottTrade Center). Are you able to accept a hotel anywhere within PRICELINE's boundary of the Downtown zone or would you prefer to first look at HOTWIRE to see if there is something you can ID that is close to the arena?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. holtcomedy Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 Well, I think the best option is to try the downtown area. Even if I find a hotel that may not be walkable from Scottrade, the public transit system is very convenient in St. Louis. So, at this point, I think I am comfortable using PRICELINE for the St. Louis Downtown area.I appreciate any and all advice! Thanks

holtcomedy Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 based on success stories I have seen on here, I would prefer 3.5-4 stars and would like to stay under $50 per night.
thereuare Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Did you want to try for a 4* hotel first up to your limit OR are you looking for the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. holtcomedy Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 I would definitely want to try for a 4* first up to the 45-50 limit, and then go down to a 3.5* if no luck at first. Thanks for all the guidance thus far, you guys are great!
thereuare Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 At the 4* level you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If rejected post back and we'll revise to a 3.5* strategy. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. holtcomedy Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 OK, let me see if I got this right...based on the re-bidding strategy, this is how I should arrange my re-bid plans.4* Downtown, $40 Rebid at $43 and add Hazelwood (only 2* and below)Rebid at $45 and add St. Charles (2.5* and below)Rebid at $45 and add Fenton (3* and below)Rebid at $46 and add St. Louis South (3.5* and below)Rebid at $47 and add St. Louis West (3.5* and below)Rebid at $48 and add St. Louis Airport (3.5* and below)Rebid at $49 and add Westport (3.5* and below)Am I on the right track here?
thereuare Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 On the right track and heading to the station... looks good to me!Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck (although i'm guessing that $50 is probably a bit low for a 4* in this zone) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
unigus Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Curious to see what you end up w/ as I'll be there then as well.Good luck and see you at the Springsteen show :)

thereuare Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 I merged your thread but not sure i should have... does this new date (10/25) replace your first post above (for 10/24) or is it an additional nite?Did you try the bidding strategy presented above? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
holtcomedy Posted September 12, 2009 Author Report Posted September 12, 2009 No, it's fine that it was merged, I ended up only needing the room for the one night. I didn't have much success through priceline....but I am going to try again since my details have changed.I just had a successful booking thru Hotwire for a Nashville trip...so figured I'd check for this one too.
thereuare Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 The 3* HOTWIRE hotel above matches both the Millenium Hotel St. Louis and the Holiday Inn Select Downtown-Convention Center, so either of these would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
