mysterons Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 I placed a bid for a hotel in Rome, which was refused... I added an extra territory and I get transfered to a regular hotel list with this information:Thank You for Naming Your Own Price
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 As recently posted in another thread:Sometimes PRICELINE will direct you to their "retail" screen... since you just placed a bid, they know you need a hotel room, and since you were unsuccessful with your bid, they're cross marketing their retail service in hopes that you'll buy a hotel from them thru that side of their service.Although not the intention when created, many have found the PRICELINE search box on the top right of the page convenient to use in these situations. If you're re-directed to the 'retail' section of the PRICELINE website, or you need to close the browser and re-access PRICELINE in order to 'clear' previously added zones, our search box keeps all your city and date information, so you just need to click the GO button again to resume your bidding, rather than needing to re-enter all your destination information. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mysterons Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 Hotwire4* Hotel in Rome CentralBreakfast, Fitness, Restaurant, Internettripadvisor 4.0 out of 5.0 last reviewed april 2009152$ per night3 nights Oct. 24 to 27
MadFlyer Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Only a guess based on tripadvisor. Empire Palace Hotel Just hit 140 reviews though with one August review, but last review prior was in April.
mysterons Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 is the tripadvisor status on hotwire usually up to date or does it lag?
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 The Tripadvisor information shown by HOTWIRE is a "snapshot" at one point in time... it is not updated dynamically when new info is added to Tripadvisor. The TA info shown by HOTWIRE will remain the same, even as the Tripavisor info changes, until a new 'snapshot' is taken. The information is generally udpated once a month, but i've seen it as frequent as every 2 weeks as well as long as ~2 months. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mysterons Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 Searching in HOTWIRE today, same dates, same amenities.. 4 star rome central, but down to 149$ instead of 152$. Is this likely to be the same hotel, or would it be different one?
thereuare Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Is the Tripadvisor info still the same as well? If everything (star rating, zone, amentiies, and tripadvisor info if shown) is all the same then i would think it's likely the same hotel... it's not uncommon for hotel prices to change a few dollars one way or the other from search to search. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
