Stucazzo13 Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 I am traveling to NYC from October 9 to October 13th, 2009. I am wanting to book a hotel through PRICELINE, I have never used the service. I would like to pay up to $180USD per night. I would like to stay somewhere central, perhaps Times Square, Central Park South or Midtown West or East. I would prefer 3.5 star to 4 star. Can you please provide some bidding advice?
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Did you want to try for a 4* first up to your limit and then, if rejected, try for a 3.5* property OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for these dates?Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Stucazzo13 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 I would prefer a 3.5 star and go try to get a good rate. I just worried about a few hotels that have pretty bad reviews in the 3.5 star rating.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 One note about the 3.5* level in the MTE zone... this includes the Millenium Hotel at the UN, which gets pretty good reviews, but is located a bit too far east for many. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the subway, although there is a bus nearby which can take you to a subway station or other parts of the city. Would this be an accepable property?Let us know and we'll suggest a straetgy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Stucazzo13 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 I was able to book on points, so I am not willing to go for a 4 star, up to my max bid.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 So are you sticking with the points reservation OR are you looking to save the points and book a 3.5*? If you're looking for a 3.5* property did you want to include the MTE zone in your bidding? (depending upon whether you find the location of the Millenium UN acceptable)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Stucazzo13 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 Sorry for the confusion. I used the points for the flight so I am willing to now book a 4 star up to my max price of $180
Stucazzo13 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 I got the Omni Berkshire for $205 a night. More than I wanted to pay, but still a few hundred cheaper than a lower star rating from Expedia. I don't think my bidding strategy was the best. I did the following: CPS, MTW, TS $175, re-bid $180 LI, Re-bid $185 CH, re-bid $190 MSG, re-bid $195 Upper East, $200 BR, $205 ME. I think where I went wrong was not including ME from the start. Either way, still happy with the price and location. I kept ME out at the start as I didn't want to end up too east.I used the PRICELINE link on your website, thanks for your help!
