kklaws Posted August 23, 2009 Author Report Posted August 23, 2009 Is it possible to request a "non-smoking" room (or how can I guarantee that I would get a "non-smoking" room) when booking through HOTWIRE or bidding on PRICELINE, especially in Europe?
thereuare Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 HOTWIRE uses a Smoke Free icon for some properties which indicate that all rooms are non-smoking.Otherwise see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kklaws Posted August 24, 2009 Author Report Posted August 24, 2009 Thanks on the reply regarding "non-smoking" rooms. Also, Is it possible to bid on Priceline for a "triple" occupancy room? Are you given the option to select the number of people in a room? Or, is it based on 2 people per room? There are 3 of us travelling to Rome 9/17 - 9/19 and would prefer to get 1 room (with 3 people) instead of 2 rooms. I was considering HOTWIRE and it looks like they will accomodate a triple. I am also considering PRICELINE and wasn't sure about the "triple" option.Thanks.
thereuare Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel (and in Europe a room for triple occupancy can be difficult, especially since these are often considered upgrades and not the 'standard' room)HOTWIRE guarantees occupancy for the number of people you include in your search. When searching for triple/quad occupancy this often equates two beds, but the 'second bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway, etc. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kklaws Posted September 3, 2009 Author Report Posted September 3, 2009 We went ahead and made our decision on our hotel room in Rome....we ended up not using HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. We just purchased directly through a hotel, so that we could guarantee a "triple" room & non-smoking. We decided with the Hotel Astrid (in northern Rome; north of the Vatican). The hotel got great reviews from past customers. The price was okay; not as good as Hotwire would have been. I will go with HOTWIRE or PRICELINE next time (when we only have 2 people in a room).
yellowdog Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Thanks for the follow-up and closing this thread with your ultimate decision. The board also got a great collection of links at our support page for your hotel direct purchases.Have a good stay.Yellowdog.
