Fredjedi Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 Hi, I have to reserve 4 rooms (8 persons) and would like to take profit that Las Vegas is almost empty to grab a 5 star hotel under 300$ for 3 nights (friday, saturday and sunday nights) in mid september.I want to be on the Strip and like to avoid the Trump as possible...Any idea how to bid??Thanks in advance
yellowdog Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 You have to avoid the North Strip if you use PRICELINE. But bidding in the South Strip means that you must be willing to stay at the Westin. That hotel is located slight of the Strip. But it's a quick walk to the action.Or you can use HOTWIRE. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.Let us know what you think and we'll go from there.Yellowdog.
Fredjedi Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 No problem with the Westin... If I remember good, it's 1 block from the Strip near the Bally's... Am I right???
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 5 star hotel under 300$ for 3 nights (friday, saturday and sunday nights) in mid september... I want to be on the Strip and like to avoid the Trump as possible...Actually, the Westin is currently a 4* hotel with PRICELINE, so that shouldn't be an option if you're bidding the 5* level. While Las Vegas may generally be hurting along with the rest of the economy, rates are not that cheap for your dates above, and i'm doubtful that you'll find a (non-Trump) 5* hotel on the strip at your current limit. As well, the only 5* hotel in the South Strip zone reported to the board is THEhotel and it doesn't come up too often... the majority of the 5* hotels are in the North Strip zone and if you bid that area via PRICELINE, the Trump becomes a very real option. As you mention the Westin above being acceptable, can you clarify your desire for a 5* hotel and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Fredjedi Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 I just want the luxuriuest hotel as possible to enjoy the amenities of the hotel (pool, restaurant, etc.). It's maybe one of the last time I go to Vegas with my parents so I want them to see the best of Vegas... If the Ceasar is 4,5, it's also OK...Thanks
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I would think the general consensus is that the Westin in Las Vegas is not really 'luxurious', and in that regard, the Trump would be a much higher rated property (although has the cons of being off-strip, no casino. and an additional resort fee).To 100% avoid the Trump you can't bid the North Strip zone... so do you want to restrict your bidding to, and start with, a 4* hotel in the South Strip zone? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Fredjedi Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 What price or strategy do you propose for a 4 star ?? Begining with 50$ was my intention but will I lose my time??
thereuare Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 $50 is likely too low for these dates, but no harm in starting there if you'd like to try lowballing as you do have plenty of time.At the 4* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Strip South...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $55, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Strip South and re-bid zone2...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $65Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. ialvarado2 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 4 star south might bring up Luxor right?I stayed at the Luxor and I wouldn't say its a 4 star hotel, more like 3 or 3.5 star at the most.
thereuare Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 ialvardo2,Yes, the Luxor is a possibility at the 4* level in the South zone. As noted above, if there are hotels in each zone that you're not willing to accept, HOTWIRE can be a better option as you can take an educated guess as to what you may receive, based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. It may cost you a little more, but you have a greater chance of avoid a hotel that you don't want.If you need help with an upcoming stay please start a NEW TOPIC.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
