Rhine-and-Roses Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 I was helping a friend try to get a room in Cambridge. She really alternated between the 3 1/2 star offered for $88 (Appeared to be Hyatt, with poor Trip Advisor ratings) and a 3* with much better ratings for $88. She ended up taking the 3*, which turned out to be HI Express. Although that was showing in your Hotwire hotels, we were still a little surprised since Hotwire themselves list Holiday Inn Express as a 2 1/2 star hotel. Should Hotwire make a small compensation for this? It seems odd that their own star system would not correlate. I asked the friend to use your link, but am unsure if she did in the end. At least she is now introduced to this site and may start to use it.
AaronJB Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board. What were the amenity icons showing with this listing?Looks like an excellent deal for this property, and the free breakfast is a nice bonus. Different locations for the same chain can appear at different star ratings. Holiday Inn Express locations can show up as 3*, 2.5* (and I think there may be a few 2* HIE's out there.) La Quinta's another example of a chain that can show up as varying star ratings depending on the property. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start future purchases, and thank you for telling your friend about the site. Enjoy your stay.
Rhine-and-Roses Posted August 16, 2009 Author Report Posted August 16, 2009 Amenities were Breakfast, Business Center, HSIA. Thanks for the clarification on the ratings.
