Fannie Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 Hi everyone,Just bought a ticket from CPH to Boston for xmas and new year vacation.Planning to stay in Boston, Montreal, Niagara Falls, NYC (for NYE!) and Boston again.Should I bet right now or wait for some time?Whats the average price for a 3* hotel during xmas and new year season? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)It would be appreciated if you could post a separate thread in the appropriate forums for each of your trip locations (Boston, NYC, etc.) We will use this thread for NYC.What would be your budget per night, desired star rating and desired areas to stay in in NYC?What are the exact dates of travel? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links when you are ready to book.
Fannie Posted August 14, 2009 Author Report Posted August 14, 2009 Thanks for your reply.I don't know the price level in NYC for New Year Eve (guess it will be very expensive). I will be in NYC from 27Dec to 1Jan. Prefer to stay in the same hotel (3* or plus)and close to the tourists spots. Any idea on how much it may cost? Will it be a good idea to bid now?
thereuare Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 The first few days of your stay are not likely expensive at all, with the last nite (New Years Eve) and possibily the day before being very expensive.I do see some current options at ~$150-$200 for a 3*/3.5* hotel... not sure if this is within your expected budget or not.Regarding when to bid you can see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ, but if you choose to wait, you're basically rolling the dice as to how well hotels will sell this year for NYE relative to expectations (and if you had any real insight you'd probably make a good hotel revenue manager :) )... so it comes down to how much you want to lock this in now or make a bet as to how well reservations come in relative to expectations.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Fannie Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 5 or 6 nights in NYC. 3* or plus hotel.Dunno how much is an ok price. maybe 130-150 USD?
AaronJB Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Is that 130-150USD including taxes or $130-150 before tax?
thereuare Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 $150 'all-in' is only about $125 before fees and taxes, and i'm going to guess that based upon current prices this will not likely be enough. But you can certainly give it a try...You don't have any re-bid zones available at the 3* level but forutnately there are a lot of zones you're willing to accept.Select 3* CPS, ESB, MSG...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, TS...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, ESB, MSG...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS, MTW, TS...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, MSG...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS, ESB, TS...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS, ESB, TS...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, MSG...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, ESB, MSG...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, TS, MSG...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, ESB, CPS...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, CPS...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, ESB...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, CPS, ESB...Bid $125Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
