Priceline Hotel: Vancouver (Coquilitam-Burnaby)

Given that this is the only 'known' hotel in the area, the fact that the Hilton is sold-out would be a good explanation as to your rejections. Even if there are other 3.5* hotels in the area, the Hilton showing no availability would indicate higher than usual demand in the area, and any other PRICELINE participants would likely have higher than usual pricing as well.

Would a lower star rated hotel be an option? (although if something happening in the area these too may have little/no availability or higher than usual pricing) Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Do any other nearby zones work for your needs? Do you have a back-up plan?

There is one other 3.5* hotel in this zone -- the Delta Burnaby -- but obviously the fact that the Hilton is fully booked is going to hinder your chances. Hotels aren't going to give you big discounts on rooms they can probably sell for full price. However, rates at other hotels in this zone (including the nearby Holiday Inn Express Metrotown) don't look abnormally high, so it may just be something going on at this hotel, rather than high demand for this area in general. I don't think you need to split your bid (and I don't think it would help anyway). If you have a strong preference for a 3.5* hotel, you can keep trying and hope that the Delta makes some rooms available on Priceline. Otherwise, you might want to consider bidding for a 3* hotel instead.
