I don't understand. I just submitted bids of $70 and $80 for downtown pittsburgh for 9/10/09, first with 4* then 3*, and was denied both times.

Should I wait until just a couple of weeks before to have my bid accepted? Or am I missing something?

Welcome to the site. :)

What would be your budget per night?

Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchase when you are ready to book.

Uh, my budget would be the lowest price I can get...like the $55 and $50 winning bids I just saw two other posters getting. :) I have no idea how their bids worked and mine didn't...

Using the Priceline winning bid linked above, that user won the Omni William Penn for their dates... check that property for your dates and you'll see it's sold-out. This isn't to say that all hotels are sold-out, but it is probably indicative that your dates have higher demand than usual; higher than usual demand typically means higher than usual bids are needed to win a hotel.

What is the best rate you're able to find for your nite thru conventional booking channels?
