jpnr00 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 So glad I found this board...so helpful.I would like to try hotwire for a one night stay in NYC 9/13 - I am nervous about a couple of things. There are 4 of us (2 kids/2 adults). If I understand correctly, I may not get two beds in my room (like with Priceline). We need to be in Times Sq. area since we are attending the MTV VMA's at Radio City. There are also live performances outside in Times Sq, so this area is a must. There is one hotel listed on Hotwire for $189 in TS, with Restaurant, Fitness and Business centers. Any idea which hotel this is? What are the odds I can get two doubles? A lot of hotels this night have pretty high rates, I feel like I may not get any better than $189 but I am scared to book it! Thanks for ANY help....
AaronJB Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)Sounds like a neat trip to the VMAs.Are you searching for 2 adults/2 children when you search on HOTWIRE?Please use the site's HOTWIRE link when you are ready to purchase.
jpnr00 Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 Yes, 2 adults/2 children for 9/13. Hotwire comes up 4 * Times Sq/Theatre district rest/health/business centerWe are all so excited - to be in NYC and to see the show!
AaronJB Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Unfortunately, this is a new listing that has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. There's also no match on the vacation package side of the service. There is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating showing on the detail page for this listing (click continue, then scroll down and it should be visible) that says based on 500+ reviews.Based on that, my guess is that the Hilton Times Square (4/5 Tripadvisor with a very close 507 reviews) would be a very good possibility, but that would be a guess., as again, this listing has not yet been confirmed. If you are searching for 2 adults/2 children, you are guaranteed some sort of bedding for your party - while it could be 1 bed + 1 sofabed or 1 + rollaway, it is most likely 2 beds. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase, and let us know if you have further questions.

As well, you know your plans better than i/we do, but have you been to NYC before? Even if your plans are centered around Radio City Music Hall and Times Square, NYC is so compact, mass trasit (or taxis) fairly inexpensive, that you really don't need to stay in the specific zone of your location. Most midtown offerings at the 4* level will put you within easy walking distance of Radio City and/or Times Square (a couple of 3.5* hotels may put you a short (under $10) taxi ride away)... so it would seem to make sense to expand your zone preference a little, as it will still be convenient, and better to spend an extra $10 for a cab ride than an extra $50+ for a hotel room in a specific area.Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
