Hello everyone!

Need assistance with 4* London for dates 10 Sept - 14 Sept. I'm still not sure where is the best zone to stay in London, but from reviews here and on TA, I think (Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge) zone is nice.

Aiming for NH Kensington or NH harriongton hall, which are the ones people have posted wins for, but unfortunately not during my dates. Could it be possible that it is still too early? or is no one winning this area during these dates. Do not want Copthorne Tara, but i know that priceline is totally random...

Any bidding strategy? Bids up til $95 still rejected. I really would like to stay in Kensington area based on positive reviews.

Yes, you know that you can't avoid Copthorne Tara or any other 4* biddding in this zone. It's a bit strange that you don't hit anything. But bid $100-105-110 and see what happens to start with.

Just post back if no go.

Hello Yellowdog,

Thank you for your reply! I bid up to $99 and still not accepted. Counter offer at $113, which means im close!!!

With this counter offer at $113 for 4* in Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge) zone, can we guess which hotel is this? I actually wouldnt mind paying $113 if its a hotel with positive reviews =P

That seems to be very little action for 4* Kensington zone in Sept, could it be due to inventory not offered to priceline yet or no one is winning/posting anything for sept?

Yes, you're close. Don't go for the counter. You have the time to bid. Your next 2 bidds will be $101 and $105.

Sorry to say that i have no clue about the hotel.

Please use board PRICELINE link for your bidding

Wow, thank you for your prompt reply yellowdog!

Could I use the hotels listed on Priceline (the offered list with names and price) as a rough guess of which hotel?

Hilton Olympia and Holiday Inn are the only 2 hotels in that zone with 4* offered by priceline for my dates. Hilton Olympia is $149/night.

Do you think my counter offer of 113 is for Hilton Olympia?

Is this a good way to guess or does the 'name ur price' and 'hotels offered' two separate inventory?

No

We don't know that, but we can guess this. But we don't know if PRICELINE has a new hotel that's not reported to the board. And we don't know if any other hotel just got a big cancellation and loaded new rates to PRICELINE's booking system etc, etc. You get my point.
Is this a good way to guess or does the 'name ur price' and 'hotels offered' two separate inventory?
You should never use the two diffrent services to determ hotels. Since the non opaque has diffrent hotels.

I'm sorry but i can't guess here.

The Copthorne is definitely a possibility, but I've gotten it several times and find it quite workable. While there haven't been recent reports of people getting it, I wouldn't read too much into that.

There are an excellent Thai restaurant very close, The Muffin Man makes for a great breakfast, and the tube is only a couple blocks away. A library up the street has free internet, and there is good shopping all along Kensington High Street. The hotel itself really isn't bad at all. Tea and coffee in the rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms.

Thank you for all your replies.

I think I'm down on my luck as I got the dreaded Hilton Olympia at $102 (after winning another hotel with bad reviews in Paris). I knew i was close cos my counter was $113 when I bid at $99. However, my worst fears came true once I got the one hotel I did not want in this beautiful zone; hopefully my experience will be better than the horrid TA reviews. Will post my stay when I am back.

Anyone stayed here through priceline before?

Anyway I still believe it is a fantastic deal for london, where it seems like everything is very expensive.

And of course as always, I used the PRICELINE links from here :)

Sorry to hear you received the hotel in the zone that you were hoping to avoid.

There are a few reviews on the board HERE, but unfortunately most are not too recent, although there are some tips in there which likely still hold tru for this property.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay... hope it goes better than expected, but regardless, i'd bet it still represents excellent value for London at just over $100/nite.
