mykicks Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Hi guys,I am currently looking for a nice place to stay for my next NY trip from 11/14/2009 until 11/21/2009.Betting Limit should be around 170$ and 3,5* or higher would be nice.I thought asking the board might be a good idea since I got great advice with my last trip to london. Thanks in advance.
AaronJB Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 This is generally an expensive time of year in NYC, and a week-long stay may be a little more difficult. What zones of the city on PRICELINE would you be interested in staying in?When you say you have a $170 limit, is that before tax/fees or including tax/fees?Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links when you are ready to book.
mykicks Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 Just recalculated. The limit is 200$ including taxes.Actually all Manhatten zones are ok, Downtown may be less attractive, aswell as Upper West and East Side.I am pretty much okay with the rest.I also found a nice offer at Orbitz.com.The 3* Hilton Garden Inn New York/Chelsea for 170$/night. Tripadvisor ratings are very good.I recently saw a Orbitz 15% discount code here in the forum, does anyone know it?
yellowdog Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 mykicksThe Orbitz code is summervin. If you decide to go this route so please use boards Orbitz link. Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Are you going to take the Orbitz deal or are you still looking to bid on PRICELINE?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (or Orbitz)Let us know what you decide and/or how we can help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mykicks Posted August 15, 2009 Author Report Posted August 15, 2009 I am still looking for a priceline deal, although the Orbitz deal seems pretty good. What do you think about it?
AaronJB Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 I would try bidding first to see if you can get a higher-rated property for the same price as the Orbitz.com deal. If not, then get the Orbitz.com deal.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Orbitz.com links.
thereuare Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 At the moment, I think the Orbitz deal may be tough to beat for this complete stay, but if you want to give i a try, how low in star rating do you want to try? Do you want to try for a 4* up to your limit and then if rejected try for a lower rated hotel OR are you looking for the least expensive star rating at the minimum star rating you choose? Also, given the "better than Downtown" location of the Hampton Inn property thru Orbitz, do you want to include this zone in your bidding? (and USE and USW are ok too?)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mykicks Posted August 16, 2009 Author Report Posted August 16, 2009 The Orbitz Code isn`t working.Any other idea? Is there probably a new one?Think I`m going to book via Orbitz.
AaronJB Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 FABSAVE10 or deal0hotel may work for 10% off.thank you for using the site's Orbitz.com link.
mykicks Posted September 10, 2009 Author Report Posted September 10, 2009 Well, here I am again.Had to check some things concerning my flight before booking via Orbitz only to find out that the offer is gone. :)So, again I am looking for a 4* in all central Manhatten zones (except downtown, upper east and west side) with a maximum limit of 200$ including taxes. It might be pretty hard getting a 4* hotel at this price, but probably I get lucky..If this is unrealistic, I am ok with downgrading to 3* (with a possible upgrade to 3.5).Thanks for your help in advance.
thereuare Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Please list the zones you will accept rather than the zones you won't accept and state your maximum budget in bid price before taxes and fees. For the time being you're only considering 4 star properties, correct? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mykicks Posted September 10, 2009 Author Report Posted September 10, 2009 Ok, so I would accept Chelsea, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Time Square, Midtown East, Midtown West and Central Park South.I am considering 4 star hotels, correct, but since this seems to be an expensive time in NY I am ok with downgrading as I said.I don`t really know how to calculate the fees and taxes, so it`s hard to give a limit before em. 200$ including taxes would be the maximum.Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 I don`t really know how to calculate the fees and taxes, so it`s hard to give a limit before em. 200$ including taxes would be the maximum.Typically you woudl go to PRICELINE, enter a bid amount and on the "review screen" (before you input any credit card info) look at the total including fees and taxes, hit the BACK BUTTON, increase/decrease accordingly, and repeat until you determine what bid amount will get you as close as possible as $200 'all-in'. I suspect in this area $200 all-in is ~$165 bid price. If you want to try for a 4* first up to your limit, you have FIVE re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* TS, MTE, MTW, ESB, and CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS, MTE, MTW, ESB, and CPS and re-bid zone5...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $175(you can stop at whatever point you'd like to not exceed your $200 all-in limit)Any questions feel free to ask. If rejected we'll revise to try for a 3.5* (or did you prefer to try for a 3* rather than 3.5*)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. mykicks Posted September 11, 2009 Author Report Posted September 11, 2009 Okay, I bet u to 165$ (wich in fact is my maximum with taxes) but didn`t get a deal.I am not quite sure whether it`s better to go 3.5* or 3* now, what do you think?Could you assist me with another bidding strategy? Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 If you were seeking a 4* hotel i would think that you'd prefer a 3.5* over a 3*... what would be the reasoning behind dropping down to a 3* before trying the 3.5* level first? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mykicks Posted September 12, 2009 Author Report Posted September 12, 2009 I don`t know actually. Anyway, could you help me try to get a 3.5* first? Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* MTE, MTW, ESB...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* CPS, MSG, TSBid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, MTW, CPS, MSG...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* ESB,TS ...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, MTW, CPS, MSG, ESB, TS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
