GoDJr Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Hey im searching for tickets from Tampa to Chicago between 8/14 to 8/17 the lowest ive found is from Southwest for $202 total which lands in midway. I prefer Ohare but Midway is fine too. Im trying to figure out what i can get from Priceline. im hoping somewhere between 140 to 150 Total. What are your suggestions on bids?
thereuare Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! For this route (and purchasing thru conventional booking channels) what is the breakdown of base fare and taxes/fees?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. GoDJr Posted August 9, 2009 Author Report Posted August 9, 2009 Flights for the 14th are costing me 199 and the total is 218Flights for the 17th are 86 and the total is 96interesting thing is if i leave the 15th they are also 86 and the total is 96.So maybe if i bid from 15th to 17th i might be able to get it, the only thing with that is i would need to get there before 12ish and there are 2 flights for that price getting there before 12 and only 1 after at 6. so ive got 2/3 chance lol ill have to think about it but how much do you think i can get the ticket for because the total would be 180 so if i could get the ticket between 100 to 120 it might be worth going for 2 days. but what do you think i would get the ticket for?Ps sorry if rambled.
thereuare Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Sorry , i'm not following your post...What is the breakdown of base fare and taxes/fees... the taxes and fees won't be discounted, only the fare will be, so we need to know the base fare amount (before taxes and fees) to be able to advise. Also, since Southwest is not a PRICELINE supplier, are flights thru the 'major' carriers similarly priced or more expensive that the Southwest flght? GoDJr Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 On Priceline base fare for the 14th to the 17th is $285 and with taxes its $324. The Base fare for the 15th to the 17th is $228 and with taxes its $270.
thereuare Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 So is there no longer a $202 fare mentioned in the first post?I wouldn't even consider the 15th-17th since you're not flexicble with the flight times. How much would you need to save in order ot make an opaque ticket (where you can't choose the flight times, layover city or lenght) worthwhile? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
