tessa Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 This was my first time using Priceline (or anything like it), but your site was an immense help. I made notes, learned how to rebid and am pleased with the results. Was hoping for The Athenaeum or the Grovsner House, but after I won the Marriot had my travel agent sister check the reviews and it sounds good, not exactly 5* (TripAdvisor lists this as a 3*..?) but I will try to post a review when I get back. ...Bid on PRICELINE using this site...First bid of $110 was rejected and countered with an offer at $187added non-5*-zones in increments of $5 until I capped out $130. I thought I would have to wait 72 hrs, but instead decided to try opening another window and/or using the back arrow to keep bidding. This worked some of the time, and some of the time I got a "duplicate bid" notice, I didn't keep track of which method allowed me to keep bidding, but I somehow I was able to, and skipped up to $165. At this point I noticed the red writing that suggested that this number might be too low, not sure if it had always been there and I just hadn't noticed it, or if it suddenly popped up. So I went up to $170, then $175 and got it....Thanks for your help.
