Priceline Hotel: Please help new person...looking NYC Oct. 21-25

I am looking for 2 rooms in NYC Oct. 21-25. Would like to say somewhere in TS, MTW, MTE, CPS, ESB area. We really love to pay less than $150 per night if possible (I saw a couple people on here did just that in the surrounding weeks). I am willing to pay up to $200 a night. I am looking for a 3* and up. I would appreciate any input on a bidding strategy as I am completely new at this and don't understand how it all works. Thank you!

For starters... did you want to bid up to your limit first for a 4* hotel, then if rejected try again for a 3.5*, and then a 3*... OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better hotel for these dates?

Also, the zones you mentioned all contain 4* hotels, but since you mention wanting a 3* or better, is there a reason you didn't include other midtown zones (Chelsea, MSG, etc) in your bidding once you lower your star level? (are there hotels in these zones that you're trying to avoid or that the location is unacceptable?)
