mireczech Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Hello, i am newbie here, and need help with strategy.I have never used priceline before and I am travelling on very low budget..My expectations are:Location New York City-Priceline areas no. 2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11,12acommodation for 2 people in one room check in 09/21/2009 around 21 p.m.check out 09/28/2009price max. 50USD per room per night(excluding taxes)some questions:1/First of all, do I have really chance to get some deal, when I have got such low price limit?2/What kind of quality i can expect for my money(2*,3* less or more?)And when i am bidding I always do so for room for 2 people, is that right?3?Is semptember "high seson" in NY?4?I am not US or Canadian citizen, can I use that trick I have read in other topic(using CA for state and 99999 for zip code and filing that two lines with my own address)?5/Can i Use someone elses credit card, or do i need to use mine?there is below the "Reservation name": "Please enter the name of the person who will be checking into the hotel. They must present a valid photo ID and credit card." And i dont get it.Of course that i can present valid photo ID and credit card, but does it have to be the same card, which has been used for booking-bidding?6/When I accept term and conditions there is also mentioned that I can be charged for special fees(turistic fee, news delivery, electricity...and dont know what else...)Is it happening a lot or you just have to pay taxes and room tax?(so price excluding taxes is around 20% less then including taxes...do i get it right?)Finaly sorry for my poor english....
thereuare Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't think your $50 maximum bid price is realistic for a hotel room within Manhattan. You can use somebody else credit card, using their info for the billing info and your info (assuming you'd be the one checking-in) for the reservation name. There's generally no extra charges in NYC hotels, maybe a stray hotel here or there will have a $2 electricity tax or something, but nothing that should 'make or break' a budget. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
