Made a bid for 5* @ City Centre / Museums Quarter @ 70 (long shot, first time I use it and have plenty of time till there). Denied.

Added City Center area, which has no 5* and made a bid for 5* only @ 70. Denied again.

Just sharing information. Tried long shots since saw no information for october posted here to clear where the market level is.

Tomorrow will make another try.

Thereuare, thanks for all the help and tips provided. FYI, I am using your links!

PS.: does anyone know how busy is Amsterdam in october? Am I trying too early so hotels have not had time to be desperate yet (if they ever will be)?

Cheers

My dates are 9-11 October. Started bidding on 4* City Centre/Museum Quarter on 31 July. Made a research on the winning bids, but there was nothing for October. I'm bidding in pounds and there was a winning bid at

At the 5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 5* City Center...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* City Center and re-bid zone2...

Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* City Center and re-bid zone3...

Got NH Amsterdam Centre from Oct10 through Oct13 for USD77.

First bid @ 75. Rejected. Second offer, it worked.

Maybe could have gotten that for less, but wanted to have it right away...I am happy with that....in a week ago, I still did not know about the existence of PL and almost booked a non star hotel for about the same!! That would have been a great disaster.....

Thanks u all for the help.

I have used the PRICELINE link from betterbiding.com!

BEST OF LUCK.

Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming that this property is 4* rated by PRICELINE, as well as the amount of your winning bid (it's not clear if you raise the price after your first $75 bid failed)

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.

I realize this is a moot point since the OP has already gotten a 4 star for his stay. But I wonder about this bidding advice.

I have been following Amsterdam bids on another forum, not a bidding forum but a travel forum, for all of this spring and summer and early fall. Normally the busiest months of the year for hotels in Amsterdam.

I have seen their members post a lot of 5 stars, in fact most 5 stars with a good well done bidding history and not some crazy high bid , going for less than $100 ---less than $90--- and in many cases less than $80---and in a few cases as low as $75.

Why would anyone think that the latter less busy fall period would end up being more expensive than the dead middle of the busy summer?

I would think that in the case above, with no takers at a lower price, the OP would be better off waiting and bidding again in a few weeks for a 5 star. And starting at $75 or so.

Its not like they do not have the time to do so.

Unless you are running into Queensday or the IBC Conference $100-110 for a 5 star is IMO an overbid that should not be needed. Not based on what I have seen for the busiest time of the year for Amsterdam hotels.

At the NH website, it is very easy to check what their regular rates are through time. I could not understand how rates can change so drastically in any month. But also, I am not famliar with the events happening in Amsterdam.
