Priceline Hotel: Newbie New York and Priceline

Hi there,

Going to New York 19/10/09 for 4 nights, 2 rooms, 4 people. First time New York and Priceline. Looking at 4* and areas that might suit, ie Midtown East, West, Times Square, Empire State Area. I've looked at areas with 4 star hotels and those that don't to give me extra bids. Looking for bidding strategy, ceiling prices when to bid. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I looked at easyclicktravel and saw that the Excelsior was available for 4 nights, 2 rooms, $1,456.64 including taxes the average being $152 before tax and also Algonquin for $179. Both are available. Was this the best place to look? Didn't see anything about it being a cancellable booking, also what about exchange rate using credit card how does that effect price?

What percentage would you suggest, I was hoping for a room for no more than $140.

That's a very good rate for the Excelsior if the location works for you... it's on the UWS so may not be the most convenient for the average visitor.

At the moment i'm doubtful you're going to find anythin at the 4* level in midtown at $140 or less.
