Hi - This will be my first time using either priceline or hotwire. I am a bit confused and am hoping for some assistance. We too are traveling the 25th-28th of August and I am looking for hotels in 4 stars in Mission Bay or perhaps La Jolla or Coronado Island. I did not realize that you could not get double beds on priceline, but hotwire seems a little more expensive? We have rooms booked at Paradise Point which is a 3 1/2 star.

These are my questions:

On Coronado is the Hotel Del Coronado a participating hotel?

Is there a list of 4 star hotels in these areas?

for a 3 1/2 star hotel do you have to bid 3 stars and hope that we get the 3 1/2 star?

If there are additional parking/resort fees do they inlude that in your price or will you find out after your bid has been accepted.

Thank you in advance - I appreciate it!

Welcome to the site. :)

A list of PRICELINE wins for the state can be found here in the Priceline Hotel List.

If you need 2 beds, there is definitely no guarantee of that when using PRICELINE. You can make a request with the hotel you do get if you win a bid on PRICELINE. While they may be willing to work with you, they could definitely say no or offer to charge more. It's not that you cannot get two beds with a PRICELINE reservation (some people are successful), it's just that there's absolutely no guarantee that you will be able to do so.

HOTWIRE is generally more expensive, but if 2 beds are a must, searching for more than 2 people on HOTWIRE is really a better way to go than trying to take a risk with PRICELINE.

Resort fees or other charges are not shown while bidding (as there's no way to know which hotel you will get until your bid is accepted.)

If you bid for a 3.5*, for example, you could possibly get an upgrade to a 4* hotel, but when bidding on a 3.5* one should expect a 3.5* win. I would not bid on a star level expecting to get an upgrade to the next star level above it.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to book, and please let us know if you have questions regarding the above.
