DerekH Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Hi, gang. In a separate forum, I'm still working on a Las Vegas hotel. But I was hoping to get some assistance with a Priceline car rental, and wasn't sure whether this was the right place to post?I'm wondering if anyone thinks it might be possible to get a good deal on a long (18 day) rental on a convertible from Priceline, and if so, how best to go about it? Here's what I'm looking for:DENver International AirportPickup: Aug 21, 8:30pmDrop-off: Sep 8, 8:30pmI'm willing to bid substantially higher for a convertible (up to $40/day) than I might for some other type of car.But two questions:Is a rental of this length even possible on Priceline? If I succeeded in getting a convertible, would the car class be guaranteed? (I don't want to be "upgraded" to an SUV!!!)Thanks for all your help!Best, dhodel
thereuare Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Is a rental of this length even possible on Priceline?YesIf I succeeded in getting a convertible, would the car class be guaranteed? (I don't want to be "upgraded" to an SUV!!!)Guaranteed just as much as any ohter reservation. Just like airlines (the most common example) car rental companies overbook by x% knowing that historically not everyone shows up for their reservation (especially true now that you can reserve a car without even giving a credit card to reserve) as well as little or no recourse by the rental company (other than charing the daily rental fee) if previous customers decide to keep their rentals longer than expected and there is simply no convertibles on the lot when you go to pick up your car... but this could happen regardless of how you reserved the car. What is the rate for a convertible thru traditional booking channels?
