grh Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 There is a 3 star in flushing area for $100. I am planning to travel around new york using subway passes, I don't know how far these hotels are from subway stations....I will be reaching new york 7:15 am in the morning on 7th and want to do sight seeing on 7th and 8th. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 I really recommend staying directly in Manhattan if your budget allows, especially when traveling with chidlren... there may be instances where you want to head back to the hotel for a quick nap during the day, quick change of clothes (due to an ice cream spill), etc, etc for which staying in the city becomes MUCH more convenient. As well, if this is your first time in the area, staying in Manhattan will give you an entirely different feel vs. 'commuting' daily to the city, there's a certain 'vibe' that you miss out on when staying outside of the city, as well as lose all the freedom of walking out your hotel door and quickly being able to go just about anywhere you desire.... not to mention that some parts of Flushing aren't that nice :)What is your maximum budget (per nite before fees and taxes) for this leg of your trip? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. grh Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 New York's Hotel Pennsylvania Guest Satisfaction 2.5 out of 5401 Seventh Avenue & 33rd StreetNew York, NY 10001is available on getaroom.com for $150. I don't know whether that is a good deal or not. I am flying thu night from san francisco....is there any chance anything may come on sale?
thereuare Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 It really depends upon your personality, location, and budget. That rate at the Hotel Pennsylvania, if for quad occupancy, would be a good price and location, but the hotel gets awful reviews. There are some options for a bit more than this, for example what i believe to be the The New Yorker Hotel Ramada Plaza, which gets better reviews, is available for $188/nite, but not sure of your budget for this leg of your trip.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
