ddaj Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 I am trying to get either the Marriot or Hilton in Prague (5* East) for 6 nights (Oct 22-28).This is what I've done so far:$55 5* East$56 5* East, West$60 5* East, West, SE$62 5* East$64 5* East, WestAny tips...do you know if I can add the 2* or 3* options, without risk of getting it?Thanks!!
thereuare Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 If PRICELINE offers bidding at a given star level then you should assume they have hotels at that star rating, so it would not be safe to bid on a lower star rating and expect to be upgraded if successful. What is your maximum bid for a 5* for these dates? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Romelle Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 HOTWIRE has a Central 5* for your dates for $132, so your PRICELINE bids will have to be quite a lot higher to work at that level. At the 4* level, HOTWIRE has starting at $43 for SW and running on up to $89 in Central, so if you start bidding at the 4* level you will need to start lower. (Priceline areas are different from Hotwire's, but it still should give you general idea.) Also, while PRICELINE only has 5* hotels in the East area, all three areas are represented at the 4* level. You could bid the SE and W areas at the 5* level with no fear of actually getting something there, but at the 4* level you don't want to bid an area unless you are willing to accept a hotel there.Romelle
ddaj Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 First Bid was $70 and got rejected. They offered to increase the bid by $22 and keep the same location and star rating, I declined... added Prague West and increased it to $72 and got it.The hotel seems to be nice but the location is not ideal!!!
thereuare Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board!Hopefully the location won't be too much of an inconvenience for you and it will have been a good trade-off for the discount price you paid. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
