I've been trying to get a hotel for 2 nights in either the Union Square area or the Moscone area for a reasonable price. My dates are anywhere between 8/9 - 8/12. But I just can't get anything for what others have reported. I tried different options, different dates, just weekdays, one day at at a time and I went up to $82 for a 3.5 star!!! Still nothing. I'm wondering is there something going on in SF that week...maybe a convention of some sort? It's getting really frustrating. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Try checking the SF Chamber of Commerce website to see if there is a big convention. Also check individual hotel prices - if they're high, it may mean a time of high demand or lower chances for a PRICELINE deal. Another way to test the waters is to see if hot,Wire has much inventory, and if their prices are high or low.

It wasn't that long ago that $82 for a 3.5* hotel in SF was an extreme lowball during the summer months. Things have changed as of late, but it's not really that high of a bid. You might also want to include more zones to increase your chance of success. Please read the FAQs on this site to learn about rebidding and go from there.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Reasonable is relative based upon current rates for these particular dates... what is the best deal you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

I suspect you're not far off... another $20 may even get you a 4* hotel, or your budget is probably enough for a 3* hotel, but not sure how flexible you are with your budget or quality level for this trip.

Are you looking for all 3 nites or just a sub-set of the date range?
